1B. Cirrus (floccus).
These high clouds initially appear as bright white specks or compact tufts
(center) and may at first appear to be Altocumulus clouds. Within several
minutes, however, the brightness fades leaving icy "ghosts" (upper center)
which betray their low temperatures and high altitudes.
