4A. Altocumulus (opacus).
These layer clouds are like Stratocumulus clouds (see 4D) in structure,
depth, and appearance except that their bases are higher than 2 km above
the ground (in this case, about 3 km). Precipitation obscures the bases
of the clouds near the horizon.
