Assistant, Associate or Professor - Institute of Atmospheric
Sciences
The
Institute of Atmospheric Sciences at the South Dakota School of Mines and
Technology is seeking an atmospheric scientist for a faculty position in
atmospheric sciences to complement and expand current areas of research in
cloud physics, radar meteorology, land surface processes, numerical
modeling, fire weather and biogeochemistry. We are interested in candidates
with expertise in remote sensing and in situ observational meteorology and
data analysis, particularly as applied to the topics of interest indicated
above. Applicants should possess a PhD in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences,
or a related physical or natural sciences field, or obtain it by the start
date. We seek an individual who will acquire external research funding, and
who will actively recruit and interact with graduate and undergraduate
students in the Atmospheric Science program. The Institute also seeks to
increase its outreach to encourage the interest of underrepresented
minorities (with an emphasis on the regional Native American population) in
atmospheric and environmental sciences. The successful applicant will join
other Institute scientists as a non-tenure track faculty member in the
Department of Atmospheric Sciences and will teach from two to four courses
per academic year. The department offers a curriculum that satisfies federal
requirements for civil service employment as a meteorologist. Degree
programs include an Atmospheric Science track in the Interdisciplinary
Science BS degree, a MS in Atmospheric Science, and a PhD in Atmospheric and
Environmental Science.
The School of Mines is committed to recruiting and retaining
a diverse workforce. To apply for this position,
applicants must apply on-line at
